Weekly Challenge: A Week of Love Notes {National Love Note Day}
Today is National Love Note Day!
It’s so nice receiving heartfelt words from the one you love. I LOVE getting notes from Scott. I especially love it when he hand writes them. These days, a handwritten letter is quite the gift. It’s so personal, and I never tire of seeing my name scrawled across the paper in my husband’s handwriting.
Love notes hold an extra special place in my heart
When Scott and I were first dating, he was in the Air Force. While I thought this was incredibly cool, I soon found out it meant he could be sent across the globe without his consent. After just four months of knowing him, he went to South Korea on a remote tour for one year. He literally wrote me one letter a day for a whole year. In fact, he even proposed to me in a letter that took two weeks to reach me. He had to wait another two weeks for my reply. A thirty day proposal is not what most people would choose, but it’s our story and it’s precious to me.
Letters are what kept us close during that year apart, and we learned a lot about each other in the process. Besides, words that are written down can be a life line when we are going through trying times. I have read certain letters from Scott dozens of times, knowing his words reflected his truest feelings. Sometimes it’s easier for people to convey emotion on paper, than face to face.
Here is the challenge: one week of love notes to your spouse
Tell your husband why you first fell in love with him, why you appreciate him, or share something that is on your heart. It doesn’t have to be difficult or drawn out. It can be as simple as a post it note on the bathroom mirror, or a small card tucked under his pillow. Write on his rear view mirror with lipstick, or send a random text filled with words appreciation. There are endless ways to send a love note, and we would love to hear your great ideas.
“So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.” —1 Corinthians 13:13
